A nightly cultural event

Long night of Museums
Long night of Museums

Next weekend, on Saturday, October 7th, it is time again. It will be a long night in Vienna with an extensive program, already for the 18th time. What happens? It's time again for the Long Night of Museums. This night you can visit and discover more than 120 museums and institutions with one single ticket.

Small & fancy meets big & classic

As said, the offer is huge and colorful mixed. Not only are the large, well-known museums participating in this event, but also many small, unusual, non-everyday museums and institutions. Or did you know that Vienna has a fishing museum, a money museum, a Roman museum or a snow globe museum, the latter directly with us in Hernals? In the Long Night of Museums you can see all these and many more.

Of course, the classics are among the museums such as the Belvedere, the Albertina, the Art History Museum, the Natural History Museum, and many more. You have the full selection and you can compile your very own mix.

The long night in Hernals

There are also a few places to visit:

The Arteum, the center for sculpture in Vienna, and the Vienna Ambulance Museum are just around the corner. The snow globe museum is also only a few streets away, where the original Viennese snow globe is produced and you can admire countless variations.

The line C of the Shuttle bus therefore stops almost directly in front of the apartments and brings you directly to the inner city from where you can continue your own personal long night of the museums.

Your ticket is also the ticket for the already mentioned shuttle buses which bring you all night through Vienna and also for the public transport.

The central starting point of the bus routes 1 - 3 is the "meeting point museum" at the Maria Theresien-Platz. At intervals of approximately 15 minutes, all venues on the routes will be approached from 18:00 to 01:00.

You like cycling? Then grab a Citybike, because an additional Citybike station at the meeting point museum" is set up especially for the Long Night of Museums.

My own Long Night of Museums

A long night of the museums I can not miss and I also already participated in one. The time flies by with sightseeing, discovering new things, seeing old ones again, .... What I can recommend is to put on very comfortable shoes, because you are simply walking a lot and for the clothes, multilayer is good. At that time, I managed 11 museums and was quite tired but full with new impressions. Therefore, when you have time, it really pays off to participate in the Long Night of Museums.

What else do you need to know?

You can find all information about the Long Night of Museums on the website. There you can also download your booklet with all participating institutions, the bus routes and many other information.

My tip, look before, what interests you, because the selection is huge. Just pick your favorites that you want to see and then just look at the museums that are on your way too. This is the fine thing in this night, just to be spontaneous.

Tickets are available in advance at tickets.ORF.at, at all participating museums and cultural institutions and at the "meeting point museum" also on the day of the event.
