A special time in Vienna
In just a few days Vienna will be immersed in a very special atmosphere. From mid-November onwards, the city will be bathed in a colorful atmosphere by the amazing lights of the Christmas markets.
Well known classics...
Again, lots of markets are waiting for you. Many of them are known far beyond the city limits. Certainly best known is the Vienna Christmas World on Rathausplatz with its approximately 150 sales booths where Christmas presents, Christmas tree decorations, handicrafts, culinary delights, sweets and warming drinks are on offer. In addition, an over 3,000 m² ice surface awaits you. For children there is the children's world with carousel, reindeer train and beautiful light installations in the park.
Only a few minutes walk away you will find the next markets. On the one hand there is the Christmas village on Maria-Theresien-Platz, between the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum with around 70 sales booths and the romantic Christmas village on the campus of the University of Vienna.
All the markets that I just mentioned, you can reach easily and conveniently from our apartments. By tram 43 it goes to the city center to the station Schottentor, and then continue on foot or by tram at the Ringstraße.
Against the imposing backdrop of the Schönbrunn Palace, there will once again be the Culture and Christmas Market this year. Let yourself be enchanted by the imperial charm. The atmospheric market offers traditional crafts, handmade Christmas decorations, Christmas concerts and a comprehensive children's program including a Christmas workshop.
From us you come to this market directly with the bus 10A. Extremely comfortable.
Also in front of a unique backdrop you will find the Christmas village at the Belvedere Palace and directly in front of the Karlskirche the Art Advent on Karlsplatz.
Very idyllic is the atmosphere at the Christmas market on Spittelberg where you can stroll in the small streets and admire the many sales booths.
A not quite everyday program and certainly not the typical Christmas market you will find in the Museumsquartier during the winter in the MQ.
... and more Christmas Markets & Events
These are the big and well known markets. But it is mainly the small markets that you find in the whole city that give Vienna a very special atmosphere in the coming weeks. Also for children there is a great program in Vienna to shorten the time until Christmas Eve.
The Christmas markets in the green areas of Vienna, such as the one in front of Schloss Wilhelminenberg, the Hirschstetten flower gardens, the Türkenschanzpark or the Schönbrunn Zoo are also something special. You can find more about these special markets on the website of the Vienna Tourist Board.
In addition to the Christmas markets, Vienna more than lives up to its reputation as a city of music in the run up to Christmas. Because there are countless, high-profile events waiting for you, which provide a unique atmosphere. You will find a practical overview again on the page of the Vienna Tourist Board
