On sustainable tour with Sabrina
In the last blog post I have already revealed you that today I have prepared some insider tips for you again. Now start reading as you might be already very curious what it is that waits to be discovered by you in Vienna.
I do it differently - in Vienna
Who I would like to introduce you today is Sabrina Haupt and her "I do it differently" tours through Vienna. Sabrina has devoted herself entirely to the issue of sustainability and provides on this topic exciting walks through Vienna.
On the program are sustainable shopping off the beaten track, restaurants that supply themselves entirely with biological and Fairtrade products, natural, sustainable and fair produced products and much much more. All that you can exclusively experience with her tours.
I have already participated in two tours and was heavily inspired by both. Not only that you feel Sabrina‘s passion for sustainability, she shows you places, shops, corners of Vienna you might have never noticed or missed.
From downtown to Kutschkermarkt
The first tour that I paticipated in has led me through the 9th and 18th district. We started at Schottentor, because very close was already our first stop, the Ladenkonzept.
The Ladenkonzept is really an insider’s tip, if you are looking for special gifts, souvenirs or just beautiful things, most are even unique pieces, all handmade.
Then we walked towards Währingerstraße to the Weltcafe and the Weltladen. After that we took the tram to the 18th district.
The first stop here was entirely devoted to fair, biological clothing.
The end of the tour marked the Kutschkermarkt, as here many exciting shops and restaurants wait for you. Of course that was ideal, because lunchtime was coming nearer and we all became slightly hungry. And so we then let the tour end with coffee and cake and with an interesting, inspiring conversation
The area around the Naschmarkt
The second tour went through the 4th district, including Naschmarkt. We started with a breakfast in the Vollpension a very special cafe about I will write you another time here in the blog. Well fed, we went towards Naschmarkt, with a brief stopover in a really great coffee roaster, Alt Wien where we could taste a fantastically good espresso.
The Naschmarkt is really known throughout the world and therefore also very popular among Vienna visitors. Because the variety of offers, smells, food, fruits, vegetables, delicacies and other fine things you willl hardly find somewhere else. But even here, there are many small shops that you easily over look, which are really hidden trasures.
Personally, I love cooking and spices so much, was fascinated by the small spice shop, which was our first stop. Not only that you get an infinite number of spices here, the owner can also tell you about any spice the effects, itsuse and much more. Of course, we could also try them and ask many questions. A real insider tip.
After this great start we went on to handmade soaps, a paradise for chocoholics (Zotter chocolate) and an organic bakery where we could taste a special Quinoabread. After that we left the bustle of Naschmarkt behind us and visited two more shops, a farmer‘s shop and a vegan shoe store (yes something like that exists).
Do you want more of this?
Also from this tour I came back home with many inspirations, insider’s tips for you and and already look forward to exploring further areas of Vienna at the next opportunity together with Sabrina.
The great thing about those tours is that you really discover with her shops and restaurants, you very often will not find in the guide books. But those small shops make Vienna just as charming as it is.
In many shops you visit with Sabrina you will get some goodies. Wheter it are small samples for you, a look behind the scenes or you can even create something by yourself, such as in the soap factory in another tour
Some impressions of our tour you'll see below.
So if you want to get to know Vienna from a new side, the tours of Sabrina are just right for you.
Greetings from the Appartements Ferchergasse
