The Kunstkammer Wien
Only since March this year it is again accessible to the public, and now already the new star among the Viennese museums, the Kunstkammer Wien of the Museum of Fine Arts. But what makes this collection so special and different?
The art and curiosities of the Renaissance and Baroque collections were universal, with the aim to capture and represent the knowledge of that time. Collected was everything that was rare, extraordinary, extravagant and mysterious. The chamber itself is based on the art collections of emperors and princes of the house of Habsburg from the late Middle Ages to the Baroque period.
Since the reopening 20 amazing rooms that were redesigned by theme are now waiting for the visitors. You are immersed in a world of curiosities, jewels, incredible things and rare pieces. No fewer than 2,200 objects can be admired. Among them such well-known as the Saliera from Benvenuto, also famous for its spectacular robbery a few years ago (and eventually their retrieval :-)).
If I have piqued your interest now, tickets and all other information can be found on the website of the Kunstkammer Wien.
Yours sincerely Stephanie from the Appartements Ferchergasse
