Vienna in fall for hiking holidays
Vienna has much to offer in every season, sights, culture, events, and much more. But it is also a very green city with a huge green belt, the Wienerwald, where you can take wonderful trips and hikes especially in autumn. So, who can say, I've made hiking holidays in Vienna?
The starting point
I might not have told you that the Appartements Ferchergasse are not only a good starting point for exploring the city and its sights, but you're also within a very short time in the green areas of Vienna where you can take wonderful walks and hikes. Right now in the autumn when the leaves change color and the chestnuts are ripe, a walk in the woods is just a blessing.
The avenue in front of the door
If you need after an exciting day in the city a walk in the nature as a sort of little change then I recommend that you simply take a walk in the Alszeile. The avenue opposite the apartments and you can stroll along quite comfortably. Christian and I take a walk ther quite often in autumn just to relax and enjoy the scent of autumn leaves.
The park nearby
Even more walking possibilities and a beautiful wood you find in Schwarzenbergpark that is easily accessible by the tram 43. Since the paths are paved, it is particularly pleasant when you are traveling with prams, or simply left your walking shoes at home. In any case, you can take long walks there and enjoy the huge park. If You want to have a picnic or just get hungry you find a the edge the Manameierei where many delights are already waiting for you.
The trails for more
This is still too urban for you? Well, then I have the Vienna city walks for you, ideally 2 of them start in the immediate vicinity of us.
The first is the Hameau path, which has been on our to do list for a long time so far so let's see if we finally manage it this fall. Start and end is the terminal station of the tram 43. This trail takes you through beautiful parts of the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), and also several places to eat are on your way. Perhaps you like to reward yourself after that walk with a fine meal at Klee am Hanslteich on the way back? We've been there several times, and the food is really very fine.
The second one starts at the metro station Ottakring (only one stop away from us)and leads you through the Wilheminenberg back to the starting point. I used to be in this part of the Wienerwald quite often as it is really very nice and you do not believe that you are still in a big city like Vienna. An insiders' tip, from the Wilhelminenberg you have a wonderful view over Vienna, so why not have a short photo stop at the Schloss Wilhelminenberg, drink coffee and enjoy the view?
Well, do you want more? Then look at the website of the City of Vienna and find plenty of other city trails. Are you already thinking about packing your hiking boots or at least good shoes? Great idea, you really should not miss autumn time in the Vienna Woods as it is just beautiful.
And now, I will talk to Christian when we plan our next trip by ourselves.
Greetings from the Apparetments Ferchergasse
