Ingredients ice dreams are made of: Take a unique setting in the heart of the city, a large square in front of it, turn the whole into a giant icy rink. Then you have everything for the Vienna Ice World.

A dream of ice with a spectacular scenery

This year again the Vienna Rathausplatz is transformed into a spectacular ice rink right in the middle of the city from 22 January to 8 March. In front of the beautifully lit facade of the Vienna City Hall you have the opportunity to enjoy an area of over 7,000 square meters for ice skating. From the large area right on the square it goes into the enchanted paths of the ice path directly through the park, which makes with its romantic lighting a very special flair.

Good mood is guaranteed in any case, because Hits from the 80s and 90s or waltzes accompy you while skating.

But also the culinary delights don't come short. Fragrant almonds, hearty meals from the Almhütte, sweet temptations such as crepes and waffles plus a warming punch and mulled wine. So if you want to warm up after your rounds on the ice, here you go.

For me this always used to be the highlight after ice skating when I was a child. I made my rounds, my grandfather (definitely more from the no sports side) watching me and afterwards we both went to the small snack stall for a hot tea: lemon tea with much sugar for me, Jagatee for Grandpa. Childhood memories...

The gastronomic offer of course, you can also enjoy without going ice skating, but then it's only half as nice or?

This year with a very special highlight

A very special offer waits for you for the first time at the Vienna Ice World, on the occasion of the 150-year anniversary of the Ringstrasse:

the City Skyliner, an observation tower overlooking the Vienna Ice World and the whole Ringstraße.

On 70m height a glass viewing rotating platform is waiting for you, informing you about many exciting things about the Ringstraße.

I once had the opportunity to enjoy the view from a roof of a house near the Ringstraße and the view over Vienna is truly unique beautiful. If you then also get a full 360 degree view, that is really something special.

Last but not least, the typical general information. Opening hours are daily from 9 to 22h. Prices you can find on the website and with the Vienna Card you get even a 25% discount.

Particularly fine, especially if you're just visiting Vienna (and do not want to travel with your ice skates), is the rental of ice skates, of course preheated.

Curling is also offered by the way, here you have always Monday - Friday from 17-22h the opportunity to show your skills.

So no matter whether you are now plan to go ice skating or simply want to enjoy the very special atmosphere with a punch or mulled wine, you should not miss the Vienna Ice World in the coming weeks.

Much love from the Appartements Ferchergasse Stephanie
