But you know what? Some of the loveliest sides of this city cost nothing at all. You just need to know where to look. And that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re here for.    <\/p>\n<p>So here are our favourite free tips for your stay \u2013 from plenty of greenery to culture for nothing, all the way to a walk that\u2019s really a little city tour in disguise.<\/p>\n<h2>Out into the fresh air<\/h2>\n<p>Vienna\u2019s parks are a gift \u2013 and they don\u2019t cost a cent. In the Stadtpark, a golden Johann Strau\u00df keeps you company; in the Volksgarten, thousands of roses bloom in summer; and the Burggarten is a quiet oasis right in the bustle. A little further out, the sweeping palace gardens of Sch\u00f6nbrunn are made for a stroll (entry to the park is free \u2013 only the zoo and the Gloriette cost extra). A real win for families. <\/li>\n<li><strong>The Wien Museum<\/strong> at Karlsplatz is free at all times for anyone under 19 \u2013 and free for everyone on the first Sunday of each month.<\/li>\n<li>Vienna\u2019s 23 district museums (Bezirksmuseen) are generally free. Our own Bezirksmuseum Hernals is one of them \u2013 a charming look into the history of the very neighbourhood you\u2019re staying in. <\/li>\n<li>Always free, too, is the National Bank\u2019s Money Museum, and the House of Austrian History lets you in free on Thursday evenings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My tip: keep some ID handy as proof of age for the \u201eunder-19\u201c offers.<\/p>\n<h2>Just wander the city \u2013 the loveliest tour is free<\/h2>\n<p>The best thing about Vienna costs nothing anyway: simply setting off on foot. The historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and even a walk from St. Stephen\u2019s Cathedral (you can step into the main nave for free) along the Graben and K\u00e4rntner Stra\u00dfe is an experience in itself. Stroll through the Naschmarkt and soak up the scents, peek into the courtyards of the MuseumsQuartier, sit down for a moment on one of those colourful benches. You\u2019ll see: experiencing Vienna mostly means walking through it.   <\/p>\n<h2>One more tip from the neighbourhood<\/h2>\n<p>You don\u2019t even have to head into the centre for \u201efree and beautiful\u201c. Right here in Hernals, the Schwarzenbergpark begins and flows straight into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rank.at\/2025\/03\/30\/der-wienerwald-wiens-gruene-oase-direkt-vor-der-haustuere\/\">Vienna Woods<\/a> \u2013 pure nature, no admission at all.
