Get around green
Vienna is made to be explored without a car. With the underground, tram and bus you can reach anywhere, much of it is loveliest on foot, and for longer distances public transport is almost always the most relaxed choice. We’ve explained exactly how the ticket system works in a post of its own.
Enjoy regional flavours
You can taste sustainability, too: shop at a market – such as the Brunnenmarkt in the neighbouring district or the weekly Alszeilenmarketon Saturday around the corner – stop in at a rustic Beisl or a Heuriger wine tavern on the city’s edge, and try what the region has to offer. Seasonal and regional isn’t just more environmentally friendly, it’s usually fresher and better as well.
Join in at the apartment
In your apartment, too, small gestures go a long way:
- Close the windows when the heating or air conditioning is running.
- Switch off the lights when you leave the apartment.
- Use water consciously and separate your waste properly.
- Be mindful with food – better to buy a little less and finish it than throw it away.
Viennese water, by the way
A tip that saves and tastes great: Vienna’s tap water comes fresh from the Alps and is of excellent quality. Just refill your bottle at the tap – it saves plastic, money and lugging bottles around.
These small steps are exactly what we work on in the business, too. You can read more about our approach on our sustainability page.
Thank you for joining in – together, a lovely stay in Vienna becomes a responsible one as well. Safe travels …
