We can still hardly believe it – and we couldn’t be happier: after months of work and a rather rigorous audit, we’re finally holding it in our hands, our Green Key. Christian and I are a little proud, we’ll happily admit that.
So what exactly is the Green Key?
Green Key is a global, voluntary eco-certification, coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). With more than 5,800 certified hotels and establishments in over 60 countries, it’s one of the leading standards for environmental responsibility and sustainable operation in the tourism and hospitality industry. The certification looks at environmental management, the use of energy, waste and water, and many other sustainable practices – and not superficially, but really thoroughly.
What does that mean for you as a guest?
Quite simply: by choosing to stay with us, you’re helping to make a difference – environmentally and socially. You don’t have to do anything extra or give anything up for it. Your stay is just as pleasant as ever, but quietly supports a greener way of running a place to stay. That’s exactly what the Green Key stands for.

What’s changed with us
Over the past weeks and months, you may have noticed a few changes. We’ve switched the last of our plastic-wrapped products to sustainable alternatives, for instance, and we’re actively working to protect local biodiversity. It’s an ongoing process – we’re not there yet, and we don’t want to pretend that we are. Thank you for supporting us on the way to becoming a better, greener business.
Not our first green promise
The Green Key joins what we already carry: the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel (both since the end of September 2021), as well as our recognition as an ÖkoBusiness Wien establishment. For us, sustainability isn’t an add-on but a fixed part of everyday operations – and the Green Key is one more lovely piece of proof of that.

We’re glad to be travelling a little greener together with you and, of course, to welcome you to our place soon …
